A strive towards perfect morning

Make these a routine for few months, till it becomes a habit.

Morning is the most productive time of the day.

I feel like we waste most of it at work, rather than spending this precious moment for ourselves when we are most active.

The following morning productive routine I normally follow on the weekdays:

  1. Wake up early between 6-7am.

  2. Pray

  3. Recite Quran with meaning

  4. Listen to podcast or inspiring stories on my way to work if driving/read books if I am taking train.

That's it. I think that's what most people do. then we go to work. When we come back, tired and exhausted, we give time to family.

I feel we can do many more extraordinary things in the morning.

Here is want to do the morning

  1. Wake up early

  2. Make our bed

  3. Pray

  4. Recite Quran with meaning

  5. Take time to make healthy breakfast with eggs, milks, oats, fruits.

  6. Enjoy my morning tea (not in a rush) while listening to news (skip negative news)

  7. After breakfast and tea, study a new topic, then write it down

  8. Listen to tafseer (explanation of Quran)

  9. Read books at least 20mins

  10. Mediate 20mins

  11. Exercise

  12. Journaling: Write down whatever comes into mind in you diary (I prefer writing on One Note)

These are the things I end up doing over the weekends.

If we could do at least 80% of these perfectly in the morning, we will not feel our morning wasted.

I think developing the habit of early night sleep is the key, not long after evening prayer and waking up early for morning prayer. Although I know these might be challening for night owls.

Hadith on sleeping early:

Aisha (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) would not sleep before evening prayer and he would not stay up after it.

Source: Sunan Ibn Mājah 702

Grade: Sahih (authentic)

Hadith on moving blessings:

Sakhr ibn al-Ghamidi reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “O Allah, bless my nation in their early morning.

Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 1212

Grade: Hasan (fair) according to Al-Tirmidhi

I think this routine is not always possible for the doctors or for people who are doing long day shift and long night shift. But we should do our best to make this a routine, which in turn become a habit to find the perfect morning.
